EXPO 2020 will be the first 15-minute city in the UAE.

After the completion of the world exhibition "EXPO-2020", its site will turn into a residential area, in which the main vehicle will be a bicycle. Thus, District 2020 will be the first 15-minute city in the United Arab Emirates.

The concept of the 15-minute city brings to the fore walkability. Its essence is that citizens can find everything they need for life in their areas within 15 minutes on foot from their homes. We are talking about shops, social facilities, places of entertainment and so on. The municipality expects to implement the concept by 2030.

District 2020 is the future vision of Expo2020, a sustainable and human- centric future city which wants to create a global innovation ecosystem that will support Dubai’s future plans and the increase of UAE’s economy.

“The city is built for the next generation of tech and its Free Zone incentives, strategic innovation policy and prosperity inspire entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level. It offers entrepreneurs and start-ups a platform for ease of set up and scale. Its pro-business regulatory environment and global logistics power means entrepreneurs can go from licensing to launch, at pace with a strong network of incubators and accelerators ready to support."

  5. Expo 2020 Dubai legacy plans:

Once the world's fair draws to close on March 31, work will begin on transforming the $8 billion site into a residential and commercial community. It is estimated that about 80 per cent of the structures will remain in some form. District 2020 will become the country's first “15-minute city”, meaning it will be possible to walk or cycle from end to end without the need for a car.

The UK has already said it will open a hydrogen innovation centre with the UAE on the legacy site. Italy's government said it will run a “renaissance” legacy project at the site to preserve archaeological artefacts and art recovered from war zones.

  6. Various pavilions now close from time to time, and without notice, due to Covid outbreaks among staff. Japan was closed as of recent. Russia, too. There surely will be more.

There have been almost 9 milion visits to Expo 2020 Dubai in the event's first 3 months, organisers said on Tuesday the 4th Jan 2022. A total of 8,958,132 visits were made between the start of October and December, with 47 per cent of those being made by season pass holders.

Unstable weather conditions in the UAE have forced some pavilions to close due to damage from the heavy rains.

Organisers at Expo 2020 Dubai are working round the clock to ensure pavilions stay open despite the heavy rain in recent days.

Several were forced to temporarily close as staff worked to repair damage caused by the downpours.
Also want to add that in the past couple of weeks especially during the holidays, some pavilions have been forced to shut due to COVID outbreaks amongst the staff.

Dubai's Expo 2020 said that virus outbreaks among staff may force some parts of the fair to "close temporarily for deep cleaning and sanitization," without elaborating on the scope or the location of the infections.
I personally haven't been there in a while, waiting for the weather to be better and the cases to mellow down a little bit.
