The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi construction site as of today. Still in its early stages, but lots of movement on the site:
The tower cranes visible in the area are the ones used to hoist up and stabilize the steel sections while being assembled to be the superstructure or the defining shape of the upcoming unique museum.
Visible progress on The Zayed National Museum since it stalled for some time. Vehicles going in and out and construction noise all over.
Speculating that this is the entrance to the museum. If you check the concept art, the shape of the arc resembles the shape of the red structure. Can anyone provide technical insight on what the huge triangle-shaped crane to the right is about or for?
Closeup of the entrance (assuming that it is):
Abu Dhabi to develop two more new museums on Saadiyat Island, but no info on what they will be
Source: https://blooloop.com/museum/news/abu-dhabi-two-new-museums-saadiyat-island/Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, DCT Abu Dhabi chairman, revealed the news at the preview of Abu Dhabi Art 2021, The Art Newspaper reports. The museums are expected to complete by 2025.
Al Mubarak revealed very little about the developments. However, he confirmed that both institutions are under construction, and that they are different from the two museums originally planned for Saadiyat Island.
Anybody knows what happened to The Grove? It probably never took off because of the pandemic. The area is closed off and there's no construction.
The Abrahamic Family House is coming along very nicely as can be seen from the road.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is very closed off. I couldn't get any glimpse inside the construction site at all. However there seemed to be a lot of activity inside as workers and cranes were busy, and cars were going in and out the construction site entry points constantly. Below are the only photos I could capture from the road.
Came across this news article. New opening date for the Guggenheim from the last update on this thread.

Potential good news for the Guggenheim?
A $1bn contract for the development of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi has been awarded by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi). The contract has been awarded to a Besix-Trojan joint venture, which is also building the nearby Zayed National Museum.Source: https://meconstructionnews.com/49575/1bn-contract-awarded-for-the-development-of-the-guggenheim-abu-dhabiRichard Armstrong, director at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation added, “Today’s announcement represents a significant milestone in the realisation of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. Housed in Frank Gehry’s distinctive building, the museum will be home to an expansive and evolving collection of artworks that advance multiple perspectives on the global histories of modern and contemporary art, with a particular focus on art from West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia.”
https://news.artnet.com/art-world/guggenheim-abu-dhabi-2011351When the Frank Gehry-designed museum finally opens its doors, it will be the Guggenheim’s largest location, at 320,000 square feet. The project, which is being overseen by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, will also be one of the hubs of the nascent cultural and tourism district on Saadiyat Island.
The island is already home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened in 2017 (after delays of its own). There are plans for a Zayed National Museum dedicated to the United Arab Emirates’s founder, as well as two other museums. The city pledged in June to spend $6 billion on the creative industries over the next five years.
