Construction is progressing atop the Tuwaiq Mountains in Qiddiya, Riyadh, on the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium, presenting unique engineering challenges. Situated approximately 650 feet (about 198 meters) above the surrounding terrain, the site requires advanced construction methods and logistics. This stadium is more than an architectural feat; it represents Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Reports indicate that construction is set to commence in 2026, with the stadium’s completion targeted for 2029. The venue will feature a fully retractable roof and pitch, as well as an LED wall, allowing it to transform into different event modes. The stadium’s design includes eco-friendly construction materials and energy-efficient systems, highlighting its focus on sustainability.

Once complete, the stadium will redefine live sports and entertainment experiences, blending cutting-edge technology with Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage. It is also slated to be a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, hosting fixtures in the group stage, round of 32, round of 16, and the 3rd place playoff.
