Architects draw up fanciful plans for a giant ring structure around Burj Khalifa in downtown Dubai

It would stretch 1,800 feet above the ground and run to 1.8 miles in circumference between skyscrapers

Inside the ring there would be a mini-city of residences, commercial space and even a green Skypark

But the designers admit the mesmerising plans will never be built due to financial and practical obstacles

Abu Dhabi developer Imkan Properties will launch new projects ahead of schedule this year amid strong demand for property in the capital.

A subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Capital Group, Imkan said a “remarkable” sales performance contributed to the sell-out of Pixel on Reem Island, Nudra on Saadiyat Island and the first phase of AlJurf Gardens, its “Riviera” project on the coast between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

As a result, it will launch new projects ahead of schedule in the Makers District on Reem Island and AlJurf this year.

The Cloud Center will be an arts, culture and conference space in Qinhuangdao, China opening next year.

Chinese architecture studio MAD has revealed photos of its sculptural Cloud Center building in Qinhuangdao, China, which was designed for arts and culture community Aranya. Images of its construction show the 2,500-square-metre building's bulbous shape taking form, as well as the beginning of the process to clad its overhanging roof in white-stained glass.

The cultural center, which will be located in the port city of Qinhuangdao, 160 miles east of Beijing, will house a grand hall, a gallery and a small theatre. Its design was informed by the "shape and lightweight appearance of clouds" and will sit in the middle of a landscape conceived by MAD as a "white stone garden."
