Capella at Galaxy Macau has been in a soft-opening phase as an exclusive preview since August 2025. The official public opening date has not yet been announced by Galaxy Entertainment Group, although some sources report that public bookings became available in late September 2025.

MGM China Holdings has announced that it is creating around 60 new suites at MGM Cotai casino resort. During the presentation of its Q2 report, it said it had already begun converting rooms at the resort.

The company recently finished construction of Alpha Villas, a collection of 28 villa-style accommodations, at MGM Macau on the Macau peninsula. The final units became available this month.

In a keynote speech delivered at G2E Asia in May, GEG Chairman Francis Lui said, “Our Phase 4 development, which is now topped out, promises to be a great leap forward for luxurious hospitality and entertainment worldwide. We are also planning a high-tech branded and immersive theme park.

“These facilities will offer our guests and tourists to Macau a next generation resort experience – one that is always fun and engaging, green and sustainable, technologically-advanced and unforgettably Galaxy.”

While only three hotels are currently under construction, the DSSCU said there are nine hotels in the design stage, all located on the Macau Peninsula, with a total floor area of approximately 31,245 square meters and around 1,000 rooms between them.

Lead8 has been appointed by Galaxy Entertainment Group on a multi-disciplinary scope for Galaxy Macau’s Phase 4. Lead8 is delivering the interior design for the development’s lifestyle retail zone and casino, and the architectural design for the luxury villas and central dome.

The Phase 4 development of the integrated resort precinct will introduce six high-end hotel brands to Macau alongside a theatre, F&B and retail offerings, non-gaming amenities, a water resort deck, and a casino.

The future Phase 4 will complete the Galaxy Macau ecosystem in Cotai, connecting to Galaxy Macau and the recently completed Phase 3 development, which includes Galaxy International Convention Center, Galaxy Arena, Andaz Macau and Raffles at Galaxy Macau.

Ponte 16 Expansion: In November 2024, the Macau government approved modifications to the land grant for Ponte 16, facilitating the construction of a Floating Casino. The adjusted land area now encompasses approximately 18,000 square meters, with a designated usage period of 36 months.

In 2025, Capella at Galaxy Macau will open its doors as the first Capella hotel in the region. The luxury resort will feature 93 rooms, including 57 suites and 36 Sky Villas with private terraces and infinity pools. Designed by Moinard Bétaille, the interiors will combine sophistication with elements inspired by Macau’s tropical landscape. The hotel’s signature restaurant will be helmed by chef Vicky Cheng, blending French and modern Chinese flavors. This new addition will elevate Macau’s luxury hospitality offerings when it opens in the second quarter of 2025.
