Nesma & Partners Wins $1.4bn Deal to Build Qiddiya’s Landmark Performing Arts Centre :
In a major step toward shaping Saudi Arabia’s cultural and entertainment landscape, the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) has awarded a $1.4 billion construction contract to Nesma & Partners for the development of the Qiddiya City Performing Arts Centre — a signature cultural destination within the Kingdom’s upcoming entertainment capital, Qiddiya City.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains, the new centre will become one of the region’s most advanced performance venues. The facility’s design features three theatres that can accommodate more than 3,000 guests in total, alongside a bold cantilevered amphitheatre overlooking the lower plateau of Qiddiya City.
A standout element of the design is a suspended 500-seat theatre, envisioned as a modern architectural icon that will redefine the city’s skyline and serve as a visual symbol of Saudi Arabia’s creative ambitions.
The centre is expected to host over 200 performances every year, spanning theatre, music, digital art, and large-scale international productions.
The project’s tender was first issued in September 2023, with bids submitted in May 2024, according to MEED. Following a competitive selection process, Tom Wiscombe Architecture, a US-based design firm, was chosen as the lead architect, while Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf (BSBG) from Dubai will act as the design consultant.
