The former home of the New York Islanders, where the professional hockey team won four straight Stanley Cup championships in the 1980s, may soon be transformed into the new U.S. flagship resort for Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Las Vegas Sands will gain control of up to 80 acres in Nassau County after final approvals are reached, where the company said it would build “a multi-billion-dollar flagship hospitality, entertainment and casino project.”

Oman-based developer Muriya has unveiled a new waterfront residential resort project. Located within its flagship destination, Hawana Salalah, Amazi will be developed over an area of one million sqm and will feature luxury villas and residences that offer an “exquisite waterfront living proposition”.

Seif El Khouly, Chief Development Officer, at Muriya said the developer’s main focus is to develop low density properties and openness for all units, allowing the best experience possible, while keeping an eye out for complete privacy and connectivity.

Hilton Hotels’ high-end Waldorf Astoria brand will debut in Costa Rica in 2025 with a barefoot luxury property and wellness retreat. The new-build resort will open in the tropical province of Guanacaste known for its lush forests and pristine beaches. Currently under construction, Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste is expected to open with 190 guest rooms and 25 branded residences.

Wellness will form a core part of the resort’s leisure facilities. The property will feature a holistic spa and wellness centre with a gym, a movement studio, outdoor yoga facilities and lap and thermal pools.

Major plans for a "world-class leisure resort" in Merthyr Tydfil which would include a ski slope and tropical water park are set to be submitted at the end of January, developers have said. The circa £300million scheme called Rhydycar West also includes plans for three hotels and around 30 woodland lodges. The project is hoped to create around 1600 jobs in the construction phase, and around 500 employment opportunities once operational.
The 575-acre site, located just off the A470, is owned by Marvel Limited and the plan is to make it one of the premier tourist destinations in the UK. Project chief operating officer Richard Arnold said the team initially hoped to submit plans to Merthyr Tydfil council in June 2022. However, following some delays, he said he was confident the plans would now be ready for submission in January 2023.

The tropical waterpark at Rhydycar West aims to "elevate the UK waterpark experience to match leading indoor waterparks in Europe and North America," according to the plans. It's intended to offer a host of attractions, including slides, tubes, a lazy river, canyon explorations, a standing wave and surf simulators.

Indoor and outdoor adventure centres will also be built if plans go ahead. Possible activities include zip wires, climbing walls, extreme slides, high ropes and more. Three hotels are proposed: a family resort wing containing 198 bedrooms, a luxury spa and fitness hotel containing 100 bedrooms, and a sport hotel with 120 bedrooms, which is the value option.

A new resort for Wales is approved.

A detailed plan for a £250m adventure resort in Neath Port Talbot's Afan Valley has been given the green light today (November 8) after a special council planning committee. Neath Port Talbot Council's planning committee was presented with a recommendation to approve the proposed Wildfox Adventure Resort, based on 132 hectares of land at Pen Y Bryn, by Croeserw and Cymmer.
Quote: It means the proposals that will include 570 holiday lodges, a 50-bed hotel and 15-bed apartment-hotel, as well as indoor water park and canyoning facilities, have now moved one step closer to construction.

Bulgarian golf site developer and operator Golf Okol is investing over 107 million levs ($58.2 million/54.7 million euro) in a golf resort project, the ministry of innovation said on Thursday. Additionally, the ministry provided over 2.3 million levs for the construction of road infrastructure related to the Okol Lake Park project, it said in a statement.

Okol Lake Park is located on the outskirts of the Gorni Okol village near Samokov, about 30 km south of the capital Sofia and is intended to offer a modern alternative to the urban environment. According to data from the project website, the complex will include a golf course, a hotel, a farm, green areas, an educational centre, a shopping area and a sports hub. Construction works will be carried out in several phases, with the total investment being estimated at about 300 million euro.
