    A possible casino for Uruguay?

As Uruguay debates whether to allow online casinos, a new land-based casino will soon begin to emerge. La Nación reports the project in the city of Punta del Este is getting the go-ahead after years of delay.

The initial project emerged in 2018 through the international development company Cipriani Group and received approval in 2019. Since then, the pandemic and the resulting economic downturn forced a redirection of the project.

Recently, one of the development’s backers, Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris, dropped out because it was taking too long. Cipriani threatened to give up as well, which may have forced officials to finally move and greenlight the project.

A potential new holiday resort for the North East of England

A report setting out an Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Request has been submitted to Barrow Borough Council in relation to the site at Roanhead Farm, 2.5 kilometres north of Barrow.
The report states the resort operator will be Landal GreenParks, which operates a network of holiday villages throughout Europe. It describes a proposal to build 450 guest lodges, to be built in two phases of 225 units each, and eco-cabin accommodation on the site.

A summary of the socio-economic impact of the early-stage proposal states: "The development proposal looks to build a lodge resort in Barrow which will be called Roanhead Resort.

"The proposal looks to incorporate the local community into the development as the lodge will provide jobs in construction and hospitality, and will also benefit local businesses by increasing the number of tourists that visit the area.

"The proposed development will have capacity for up to 1,200 guests, and these visitors are anticipated to support tourist attractions, retail, and the evening economy."

new hotel brand centred around sports and fitness will open its first location in Dubai next year—instead of in Montenegro, as initially planned.
Siro, from the company behind the ultra-luxe One&Only and Atlantis chains, says it will focus on guests’ physical fitness, mental health, nutrition and sleep.

Think, a a high-end gym with hotel rooms attached. Or maybe a wellness retreat: Instead of relaxing, you’re working out. To help, visiting athletes for the brand will include Olympic gold medal swimmer Adam Peaty and Somali boxer Ramla Ali.

It’s a reasonable target for Dubai, which has more than rebounded from the Covid-19 pandemic travel halt. Over the past year, its tourism industry has benefitted from the Expo world’s fair that ended in March and now from spillover visitors to the FIFA 2022 World Cup being held in Qatar.

The hotel will be in a development called One Za’abeel—two towers with a horizontal cantilever running between them that looks rather like an elevated subway.
