Saudi Arabia to invest $7bn in three manga-themed amusement parks near Paris

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund on Monday signed an agreement with the French government to invest $7 billion in creating three manga-themed amusement parks north-east of Paris.

The two leaders oversaw the signing of the €6bn ($7bn) agreement between Roland Lescure, French Economy and Finance Minister, and Abdullah Al Dawood, Director General of Qiddiya, a subsidiary of the PIF. "We’re not done surprising the world. Very proud of this achievement," Mr Macron said on X.

The Japanese manga series Dragon Ball, which became a global phenomenon in the 1990s, will be one of the themes of the new parks, Mr Macron's office said, without giving details on a time frame.

The parks, expected to create 22,000 new jobs, will be built near Cergy-Pontoise, about 30km from Paris.

Hoiana launches new Sky Casino for VIP members

Vietnam’s Hoiana Resort & Golf has unveiled a new high-end gaming space, Sky Casino, located on the 19th floor of Hoiana Hotel & Suites.

Opened in 2020, Hoiana recently revealed plans for a US$1 billion Phase 2 expansion that will add more than 1,000 five-star hotel rooms, 198 beachfront villas and a convention center, plus a family-oriented retail and entertainment zone, and a second golf course linked to a professional training academy.

The company early last year underwent a change of control that saw former Resorts World Sentosa and NUSTAR executive Alan Teo appointed CEO. Hoi A South explained at the time that Teo’s appointment formed part of its key development strategy aimed at building out Hoiana’s offerings.

Belle Corp said it is in talks with potential operators for a planned integrated resort in Clark, Pampanga, after securing a provisional casino license for the project.

In a clarification filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, the company said arrangements with a partner will be disclosed once finalized, adding that it is targeting an official launch within two to three years from the engagement of an operator. The development is planned within the Clark Special Economic Zone, approximately 80 kilometers north of Manila.

Belle Corp said it plans to invest at least $300 million in the integrated resort and expects to derive lease income and a share of gross gaming revenues once operations begin.

A report by Manila Standard cited Belle Corp president and chief executive Armin Antonio Raquel-Santos as saying the company is in talks with ‘three to four’ foreign casino operators, including Melco Resorts & Entertainment Corp..

The proposed project will occupy a five-hectare site in Clark and is expected to include both casino and hotel components. The development is intended to follow a co-licensing model, with the selected operator managing gaming operations while leasing the land.
