Danish architecture studio BIG has designed a baseball stadium in Las Vegas with a massive metal shell and the "largest cable-net glass wall in the world".
Sited on the Las Vegas Strip, the ballpark was designed by BIG in collaboration with engineering firm HNTB for Major League Baseball team the Athletics (The As), which is moving from Oakland, California, following the 2024 season.
The covered ballpark will contain seating to accommodate 33,000 people. Its massive dome will be clad in "shimmering" metal and made up of five overlapping forms, with a glass wall hanging from one end that the studio said will be the "largest cable-net glass wall in the world" if completed.
The stadium is planned to be complete in spring 2028. The building is the second that BIG has designed for the team, following a previous proposal for a stadium in Oakland.

Pa. gaming company begins $206M expansion at Las Vegas-area casino

The gaming company is expanding the casino, which is located on the southeast corner of St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard in Henderson, Nevada by building a second tower at the casino. Penn Entertainment was previously known as Penn National Gaming.

The project, with an estimated budget of $206 million, is expected to add 384 rooms to the company’s property south of the Las Vegas Strip, bringing its total to 774 rooms and suites. Along with the rooms, there will be expanded meetings space and updated amenities.

On Monday, contractors hurried in and out of the new Durango Resort & Casino while scores of employees were in training inside. They are some of the few who have seen the interior of the $780 million property, which will open to the public Dec. 5.

Red Rock Resorts has delayed the planned opening of its $780 million Durango Casino and Resort, pushing the opening back into December. Saying that the new property will not yet be completed by the planned November 20 opening, the southwest Las Vegas casino is now eyeing December 5 for its big debut.
The delay was announced during the company’s third-quarter earnings conference call on Tuesday, November 7 — citing that portions of the $780 million resort will not yet be completed by the announced opening date. “We continue to prepare for the scheduled opening of our Durango Resort, which we have now moved to December 5, to ensure a first-class opening of the property,” the Red Rocks Resorts parent company said in a statement.

The 201-room casino and resort broke ground in March of last year on a 50-acre site near the 215 Beltway and South Durango Drive. When it opens, the 83,000-square-foot casino floor will have 15 dining establishments including a glitzy new lounge, a speakeasy bar, and a 25,000-square-foot food hall.
