Renewed as Saudi Arabia’s cultural capital, the historic city of Diriyah will showcase Saudi Arabia’s 300+ years of authentic culture and history by delivering one-of-a-kind inspiring heritage experiences, educational and cultural opportunities, world-class residential living, and outstanding lifestyle offerings to include shopping, entertainment, and dining experiences.

Located just 20 minutes northwest of Riyadh’s city center, Diriyah will be transformed into one of the world’s foremost lifestyle destinations for culture and heritage, hospitality, retail, and education, and will become one of the world’s great gathering places.

At the heart of the development is the At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage Site, an iconic mud-brick city, and the home of the First House of the Al Saud family and capital of the First Saudi State, preserved and restored for future generations.

Combining traditional Najdi architectural typology and new urbanism, Diriyah will be a place that connects emotionally with visitors and residents, promotes, and celebrates the destination’s rich heritage and reveals the origins of modern Saudi Arabia and the spiritual values in which it is rooted.

Under the mandate of Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and as one of the Public Investment Fund's projects, the project contributes to Vision 2030, by its target of 27 million local and international visitors by 2030. This supports the national tourism strategy which aims to host 100 million worldwide tourists in the Kingdom by 2030.

Responsible for developing the Kingdom’s foremost cultural and heritage destination, Diriyah, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – announced that it has signed a management agreement with Time Out Group plc – the global media and hospitality business – to open a new Time Out Market at Diriyah Square. Diriyah Square is the commercial, retail and lifestyle heart of the 14 sq km Diriyah development. A key anchor of Diriyah Square, Time Out Market Riyadh is forecast to open in 2027.

Located across 9,000 sqm and two levels, the award-winning food and cultural market will bring Riyadh’s best chefs, restaurateurs and cultural experiences together under one roof, based on editorial curation. It will provide a space and opportunities for award-winning and established as well as up-and-coming culinary and cultural talents. There will be 23 kitchens, five beverage serveries, multiple stages, event and exhibition spaces, a demonstration kitchen, kitchen academy and kitchen lab. With approximately 1,650 seats, guests will have a variety of indoor and al fresco dining options.

Saudi Real Estate Infrastructure Company (Binyah), a subsidiary of Saudi Real Estate Company (Al Akaria), has won a SR373.93m ($99.43m) contract from Diriyah Gate Company to execute the enabling works for Diriyah Gate phase 2. The project covers site preparation, earthworks (cutting, filling, demolition and compaction) and associated works. The contract duration is 548 days from the first quarter of 2023 to the fourth quarter of 2024.

Binyah specialises in infrastructure development works, water and wastewater utility projects, and ports and marine construction. Al-Akaria is its majority stakeholder with 60 per cent of capital.

Langham Hospitality Group continues its strategic global expansion with a new management agreement for The Langham in Diriyah, located 15 minutes from downtown Riyadh in Saudi Arabia with the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA).
