Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport is set to get the world’s largest airport automated people mover (APM), with a 50km network connecting nine stations across the vast airport site.
The contract has been awarded by Dubai Aviation City Corporation to a consortium comprising Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), its Dubai-based subsidiary MHI Mobility Engineering Services (MHI-MESC), and Indian engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
According to MHI, construction of the APM system is scheduled for completion in December 2031, ahead of the airport’s planned opening in 2032. The system will comprise 165 automated vehicles and connect terminals and major facilities across the airport.
