Aldar Properties has launched Saadiyat Lagoons, a nature-inspired residential community in one of the most desirable areas of Abu Dhabi.
The development, on the east side of Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, within the 6.2 million square metre plot acquired by Aldar earlier in 2022, will have 207 villas released in its first phase, which will be available exclusively for Emirati buyers on November 3. Prices start from Dh6.1 million.

“Saadiyat Lagoons is located on one of the most desirable pieces of land in Abu Dhabi, which makes it an incredibly exciting proposition,” said Rashed Al Omaira, chief commercial officer of Aldar Development.

“Each aspect of the development has been carefully planned in response to the changing needs of our customers, including the amenities, sustainable design, and options for home customisation. Once completed, the community will boost Saadiyat Island’s position as a fully developed residential, cultural and leisure destination, and we expect to see strong demand amongst UAE nationals.”

Amenities include an eco-corniche, an amphitheatre, a dry-deck water play area, a skate park, paddle, basketball and volleyball courts, a climbing wall, playgrounds and green spaces and parks.

View of Saadiyat Cultural District, including Mecanoo’s Museum of Natural History Abu Dhabi and museums by Jean Nouvel and Frank Gehry, both completed and uncompleted, in the distance.

Mecanoo, the Dutch firm that recently dazzled New Yorkers with its $200 million transformation of the Mid-Manhattan Library (alongside Beyer Blinder Belle), is now set to wow future museum-goers in Abu Dhabi with its design for the emirate’s forthcoming Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.

The Abrahamic Family House is over 20% complete at the end of March 2022

The Abrahamic Family House project that is being carried out on Saadiyat island in Abu Dhabi the capital city of the United Arab Emirates is reportedly over 20% complete with the inauguration ceremony set to take place before the end of the year. This was revealed in a statement released by the Higher Committee Of Human Fraternity (HCHF), which is supervising the project that is closely followed by imam Ahmed el-Zayed of al-Azhar and Pope Francis who endorsed its overall design.

Within the establishment, there are three separate iconic houses dubbed the Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue, the Imam Al Tayed Mosque, and the St Francis Church. Moses ben Maimon is described as an influential and prolific Jewish philosopher that was Sephardic during the middle ages. The Abrahamic Family House site will also include a cultural center that aims to motivate people to exemplify the human spirit of solidarity.
The design of the Abrahamic Family House aimed to capture the values that are shared across Islam, Judaism, and as well as Christianity, was done by Adjaye Associates, an award-winning architectural and design firm with studios in Accra, London, and New York. The firm was led by Sir David Adjaye, a Ghanaian-British architect famous for designing many notable buildings around the world, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

5 years from next week! How precise!

Frank Gehry's Guggenheim museum in Abu Dhabi has a new opening date: 2026. the news was revealed by the Guggenheim's director, Richard Armstrong, at a press conference in Basel.

‘We think it should be five years from next week,’ the art newspaper reported, adding he will visit the middle east soon. ‘it looks like everything is coming together so we can say something definitive. it has been a relatively long gestation.’

First announced in 2006 and scheduled to open in 2012, the long-awaited project has suffered many ups-and-downs. a new opening date was set for 2017, which obviously didn’t happen, and by the time the museum’s plans seemed to be washed up.

As far as I can see there have been no updates on Saadiyat Grove since 2019. There are a few pictures online of this scale model and different variations of what the development would include but it looks like it was meant to tie together the museums district and as those have been so on and off over the past few years I think it's fallen by the wayside.

It may return, or be redone in another format, once the museums etc are further along but it looks like this is the most "realistic" press release I can find for it and it's from November 2019 so not much time to get things moving before the pandemic closure hit.

For those not familiar with the project here are some images of the model and headlines from the project...

Perhaps someone local can see if the Saadiyat Grove Experience Centre is still there?

As part of the launch, Sheikh Khalid visited the Saadiyat Grove experience centre at Mamsha Al Saadiyat and reviewed the designs and the master plan of the 24.2ha development
Once developed, Saadiyat Grove will feature 6ha of retail, entertainment, and leisure spaces comprising 3,706 residential units, 170 of which will be branded, in addition to hotels, as well as co-working spaces for new enterprises and startups.
Phase 1 of Saadiyat Grove will include 606 residential and around 200 retail units, in addition to gyms, pools, kids play areas, community gardens, and a running track that will connect the whole project. Set to be developed in phases, Saadiyat Grove’s Phase 1 will begin handover in 2022.

I have been trying to find updates for a while now but this is the only sign of life I have seen since the most updated Google maps images which are late 2019.

Work is ongoing by the looks of it but it doesn't look anything like ready and from the silence I would assume that it's been badly delayed again.
