The Hard Rock Casino Rockford's grand opening is set to take place in November 2023, with a 250-room hotel scheduled to open shortly after.

Meanwhile, for casino enthusiasts there is a temporary location open (found under the name Rockford Casino: A Hard Rock Opening Act), which will close when the official Casino opens.

Temporary Rockford Hard Rock casino, opened in 2021, generated $54.7 million in revenues in 2022. Meanwhile, the preliminary plans for the main casino have been approved and renderings were released in late September 2022, showing, that the main project worth a $300 plus million will offer so much more than the current temporary casino, which, nevertheless, still already proved to be popular amongst visitors.

Besides the legendary atmosphere of Hard Rock brand, the main casino will sit on more than 180 thousand square feet. People will have the luxury of enjoying table games, slots, multiple restaurants, hard rock live venue and spacious interiors. For now we can only use renderings to envision what it will look like, but judging from the images released the final result is worth the wait.

The ceremony came about a year after the opening of the temporary Rockford Casino: A Hard Rock Opening Act. Construction on the permanent facility is set to begin following the approval of the project by the Illinois Gaming Board earlier this month.
The $300 million project will span more than 180,000 square feet, and include 1000+ slots, dozens of table games, and potentially a poker room of 10 to 12 tables. A sportsbook is also contemplated. Multiple restaurants will be available, a live venue that can serve as a 23,500-square-foot conference center, and more. A 250-room hotel in the second phase of construction is also part of the plan.

City officials and celebrities threw a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 28 at the new Hard Rock Rockford casino and hotel site. At the official ceremony, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara gathered with Hard Rock COO Jon Lucas and Rockford casino chief investor Dan Fischer, as well as Rick Nielsen, a Rockford resident and a member of the band Cheap Trick.

Three years after Rockford selected Hard Rock Casino from among three viable casino proposals, construction has begun on the casino’s latest resort at the Rockford’s East State Street corridor. Hard Rock Casino Rockford threw an invitation-only party to celebrate the start of transforming a 25-acre empty field into a more than $310 million resort.

ROCKFORD — Hard Rock Casino Rockford has received state approval to begin the first steps of construction on its future casino resort near the corner of East State Street and Interstate 90.

The Illinois Gaming Board gave approval for Hard Rock to start moving dirt and lay the foundation for the resort. The city of Rockford has also issued a building permit to Hard Rock for site grading and other preliminary work. The approval was first reported by the Register Star and confirmed by the Rock River Current.

Hard Rock’s full resort will total more than 180,000 square feet, including multiple dining options and a Hard Rock Live entertainment venue with 1,600 to 1,800 seats. There is also a planned 250-room hotel on site. That hotel was initially planned for later phases of construction, but Hard Rock is considering expediting that project in the initial phase.
