Another possible new resort / venue for the Chula Vista Bayfront?
This one will be opposite the Gaylord Construction.

A developer wants to build a gigantic sports and entertainment complex on Chula Vista’s Bayfront. It would be built across the marina from the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center which is already under construction.
Frederick McDonald pitched his idea to the Chula Vista City Council Tuesday night. According to a rendering of the development, it would include retail, a hotel, a dock-and-dine, an aquatic athletic center, youth sports fields, tech offices, and a sport entertainment complex in the middle of it all.

Chula Vista has officially broken ground on the Gaylord Pacific, a gigantic luxury ocean view hotel, resort, and convention center that’s coming to the area in the next few years. The Gaylord Pacific will be a 1,600-room hotel operated by Gaylord Hotels, which is owned by Marriott. In addition to being a bay-front resort, the Gaylord Pacific will also serve as a convention center designed from the ground up to host large events.

All in all, the Gaylord Pacific will span nearly 2 million square feet of enclosed space — including four ballrooms and three levels of meeting spaces. The exterior will feature two outdoor meeting and event lawns. Its 22 stories will feature stunning views of the ocean.

Chula Vista began closing roads on Monday 22nd to allow construction to start in those areas.

Several Chula Vista streets will be closed starting Monday as construction begins on the city’s major bayfront development. The street closures are due to crews beginning infrastructure work ahead of the full construction of the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center near G Street and the Bayside Park.

The Port of San Diego predicted the resort, which opens in 2025, will generate roughly 4,000 jobs and inject half-a-billion dollars into the local economy every year. The Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center had a similar impact on the Aurora, Colorado community right outside Denver. More hotels, homes, restaurants, and businesses started popping up shortly after the resort opened in 2018.
