Another hotel opening soon on the island

Opening during the 75th anniversary of the InterContinental brand, the resort which is situated along the shores of the Arabian Sea, will be headed by General Manager Mohamed Mahmoud. With over 20 years experience at IHG Hotels & Resorts, this is Mahmoud’s third hotel opening, having previously opened resorts in Saudi Arabia and Fujariah.

Dubai Investments (DIC) has signed a deal with RAK-based developer Marjan to open AED 1 billion ($272 million) development on Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island. The development on the island, which is already home to international hotel brands including Rixos, Hilton and Accor, will feature a beachfront resort, serviced apartments, villas and residential buildings, as well as retail and F&B units.
The DIC and Marjan deal follows RAK’s announcement earlier this year that it would invest $136 million in ‘experiential tourism’.

  3. Marjan is divided into four (sub-)islands. Here is how they'll look like once filled with residential developments and resorts:

    Artist's impression:

  7. Al Marjan Island is a group of 4 coral-shaped islands in a man-made archipelago located in Ras al-Khaimah, in the Persian Gulf. It is administered by the Al Marjan Island Company. Several resorts, beaches, tourism destinations, and residential projects are located in the four islands, being one of the UAE's top tourism spots.

Started as a tourism enterprise, the five-year construction development started in 2013 now harbors a quasi-metropolis, fully equipped with a developed residential area and hospitality industry, as well as adjoining infrastructure.

Although still under development, at full operation, it is expected to host up to 20 thousand party-goers at its clubs, hotels, and other facilities, with an estimated foreign investment starting at Dh19 billion. The Island now houses 45% of the total 5-star hotel rooms in the Emirate through its 3 resorts - the Rixos Bab Al Bahr, DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island, and Al Marjan Island Hotel & Spa.
