  1. The Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Council has approved a $30 million expansion of the Island Resort & Casino in Michigan
The casino announced that more than 100 new hotel rooms will be added and connected to the south end of the current 11-story Palm Tower, with three guest elevators and a lobby. A high-end dining venue and convention space are planned for the top floor. The expansion also includes a pool with water park features for kids and young adults under 18.

The expansion will add 138 rooms to the casino resort, bringing the total to 455 guest rooms. The investment also includes building a restaurant on the 12th floor of the present hotel tower. The steakhouse will be able to accommodate up to 200 diners.

Emaar Properties has sold its Address Sky View hotel in Downtown Dubai to Evergreen Hospitality for $204m. The developer will continue to manage the property and also said it has retained ownership of the sky bridge restaurant in the tower.
The property comprises 169-hotel rooms and 551 apartments, as well as MICE facilities and F&B outlets. It opened for business in January 2020. In a statement to the Dubai Financial Market on January 6, the developer said the deal is “in line with the company’s asset-light strategy for hospitality assets”. Emaar said the deal was executed on December 31, 2020 and is expected to close on January 15 this year.

Atlantic City approved the Showboat for its waterpark plans. I really hope this comes off.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority approved designation of the project as an entertainment retail district, which entitles it to an annual rebate of up to $2.5 million in sales tax generated by it for 20 years. There also will be tax breaks on construction materials used for the project.

A special meeting will be held today which might greenlight the building of the previously mentioned Atlantic City waterpark.

Formal action may be taken by the Board at this meeting on … final project approval of the Showboat Entertainment Retail District Project,” the CRDA meeting notification explains.
Showboat owner Bart Blatstein, a real estate developer based in Philadelphia, is seeking to have the development classified as an entertainment retail district. If that happens, the endeavor would qualify for construction cost breaks and ongoing reductions in sales taxes at the venue. The New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) will review the waterpark proposal during a special meeting next week, December 29.

A new waterpark resort expansion could be coming to Atlantic City...

A development agency in Atlantic City approved construction Tuesday of a $100 million water park at the former Showboat casino in a move designed to make the gambling resort more appealing to families and off-season tourists.

But the key to making the project work — 20 years of tax breaks the Showboat’s owner is seeking — has not yet been decided. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority is expected to consider that request at a meeting within the next few weeks.

But it did give final land use approval to the project, which is to be built on a vacant lot next to the Showboat, which currently operates as a non-gambling hotel.
