The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley has announced that Steven Szenasi has been appointed general manager ahead of the resort’s late 2021 opening. Paradise Valley is located adjacent to Scottsdale, AZ.
As the first Ritz-Carlton to be built in North America in over a decade and the centerpiece of the $2 billion, 122-acre luxury master-planned development of The Palmeraie, The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley, the company says, is positioned to become a flagship property for The Ritz-Carlton brand.
Szenasi’s career spans 25 years and comprises an impressive list of global luxury hotels within The Ritz-Carlton brand. In his most recent role as general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, the hotel was awarded the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond Awards, while accomplishing the distinction of earning a second Forbes Five-Star award for The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Dove Mountain. Szenasi’s leadership contributed to the resort’s performance, The Ritz-Carlton says.

This one is the Indonesia Pavilion.

I can't read the whole article because it's behind a $140 per year paywall but it looks like China Oceanwide who own the Atlantis brand are selling off some of the land they purchased in 2016. It's not the land for Atlantis but it was purchased in that original land purchase so it looks like something is happening in that region.

The plot of land for sale for $34m is shown above marked with BMX-3.

Does anyone have any further news on this resort?

  4. Thank you for your answer!

The one that is marked on the map as Gentry Manor, is that considered part of resorts world or is that map of the overall city plan? That location has works ongoing recently so that's why I am interested - it's marked on google maps as "resorts world" but I couldn't find anything real with that location and the name shared. I'll check it out under Gentry Manor but any further info would be interesting.

Does anyone know if this Resorts World Resort will have multiple hotel brands under it like the one in Vegas will? So they have one "resort" but multiple brands?
  5. Does anyone have any information on what specifically "Westside City Resorts World is going to consist of? I feel like this resort is having an identity crisis.

This looks like it was originally named Bayshore only which seems to be completed (there are two sites marked the same on google maps, see below) but was then changed to be "Westside City Resorts World".

The only mention I can find of this specific name is with the Suntrust investment articles which are the latest ones on the thread. None of the artwork for any of these resorts matches up with anything else nor with the pictures already on the thread which seem to be mainly of a residential tower close to the planned resort site.

SJM Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Su Shuhui said that the group’s performance in the last quarter continued to be affected by the severe contraction of the tourism industry under the epidemic however there are signs of picking up in the amount spent by tourists.

SJM announced that the adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter was negative HK$782 million, a slight improvement from the second quarter. During the period, the group continued to make a loss, with a loss of 1.031 billion yuan. In the first nine months of this year, SJM's adjusted EBITDA was negative 1.766 billion yuan and a net loss of 2.444 billion yuan.

Su Shuhui mentioned that the construction of Grand Lisboa Palace has been completed and the group is waiting for the local government agency to notify the final acceptance date of the project in November 2020. The project is expected to open in the first quarter of 2021.

I have been trying to find updates for a while now but this is the only sign of life I have seen since the most updated Google maps images which are late 2019.

Work is ongoing by the looks of it but it doesn't look anything like ready and from the silence I would assume that it's been badly delayed again.

The construction of Movenpick Hotel & Resort Al Marjan Island is in greater progress. The hotel will boast a prime beachfront location, offering guests unrivaled views of the magnificent Ras Al Khaimah coastline. The hotel offers 5-star amenities, including branded rooms and chalets, in addition to world-class entertainment attractions, restaurants, cafes, fitness facilities, and more.

According to Construction Week this hotel construction should have completed external construction by September 2020 however this is the most recent video I can find and it doesn't look likely! Does anyone have anything more recent to share?

Six months’ worth of work on the $5 billion Heart of Europe project was completed within the peak four months of coronavirus, according to Jozef Kleindeinst, CEO of Kleindeinst Group, the company behind the ambitious development.

As soon as the pandemic struck the UAE, a decision was taken to move around 1,200 staff members onto the island, to allow work to continue in a safe and secure environment.

Kleindeinst, who also moved into one of the super-luxury villas on the development’s Sweden Island, explained: “The labourers were happy; the engineers and architects who were working here, around 100 people, were not so happy about it and they complained that their families were in Dubai and how they can stay on the island. “But we did not see much of a choice. We said, either we do it 100 percent, then we eliminate the risk anyone can bring us this virus.”

Construction work has started on phase two of the development, which will include Switzerland Island, a Venetian-style Lido resort and Marbella Hotel, with the entire project scheduled to complete by 2023.

This video is from September but we haven't seen any shots this clear since. Does anyone have any newer images from the site showing the overall progress? The most I have seen is the pool area.

I also found this very short video from the outside of the construction site which shows the main resort building from ground level and some of the private residences.

This is the first time I have seen the concept art for a single home rather than the whole resort.

The latest offering from The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Paradise Valley, The Estate Homes, is unlike any other residential opportunity in Arizona. Imagine a home not only defined by sophisticated style and luxurious finishes, but equipped to deliver legendary Ritz-Carlton service. From concierge services and in-residence dining to a dedicated residential management team, a friction free life of privacy and comfort awaits.

The Swan Reserve at Walt Disney World continues construction. Interesting to see this going ahead when so many Disney resort projects seem to be on hold.

The progress on this resort is really coming along, I cannot wait to see what it looks like when it's finished!

Aerial views of the long building with cabins aboard the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser (hotel). It's unclear what role the physical window-type openings have. Concept art shows that guest rooms will have window views out into space. Trees will hide views of the show buildings.

  24. Investment is being sought from a number of regions outside of Russia according to this article. It looks like some of the initial resort projects failed to find funding until external investors were brought in more recently.

The implementation of the project of the integrated entertainment resort (IRK) "Primorye", despite the difficulties with the pandemic, is proceeding smoothly. Last week, the official opening of the second casino took place, the investor of which was a Russian businessman; next year, an investor from Cambodia is expected to open a casino, according to IA PrimaMedia.

At the moment, there are three vacant land plots left in the Primorye IRC, one of which is being negotiated with potential investors, Deputy Prime Minister of the Primorsky Territory Konstantin Shestakov said in an interview with Interfax-Far East.
The authorities of Primorye count on the participation of investors from Japan in the gambling zone, who have not shown much interest in the project so far.

"They continue to invest in us (the gambling zone - editor's note). And foreign companies are investing in us - this is important. Koreans are investing in golf, investors from China, Cambodia are investing in hotels. Let it be so. I would like it to be on our investors from Japan have appeared on the market. Negotiations are underway on one of the sites, we are in the process, "Shestakov told Interfax.
