One of the world’s smallest countries is adding the finishing touches to a giant slide inside its Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion to remind visitors of traditional funfair rides. When visitors go down the three-storey slide, made of stainless steel and plexiglass, they will see trees and plants across an atrium, recreating Luxembourg's lush green woodlands.

Coastal Village development is underway to house 14,000 employees and their families
SP: At what stage is the project now in terms of infrastructure, and what is the timeline?

AT: Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the pandemic, we have continued to make significant progress on the ground, and there are 500 contracts worth over SAR 15 billion now awarded to local and international partners.
The 100-hectare Landscape Nursery, the largest in Saudi Arabia, which will provide more than 15 million plants for the destination, has been operational since early 2020. There are more than 6,000 workers currently on-site, and the first 80km of new roads are near complete. The Construction Village, which is set to house 10,000 workers, is already open, and development is also progressing well at the Coastal Village, which will be home to around 14,000 people who will eventually operate the destination. This includes a 3-star management hotel, the first accommodation and our new offices.

Last year, we marked a significant milestone in the construction of our eco-friendly Red Sea International Airport. We awarded a substantial contract to an all-Saudi JV between Nesma & Partners and Almabani for airside infrastructure works ahead of the airport opening in 2022. This includes the design and building of a Code F Runway 3,700 meters long, Code B Seaplane Runway, Parallel & Link taxiways and pavement works, Aeronautical Navigational Aids, Aerodrome Ground Lighting, Airside utilities, helipads, roads and associated buildings.

We have an exciting year ahead at TRSDC. As we move into a post-Covid world, we are creating more partnerships, breaking new ground on-site and continuing to move forward with our plans to welcome the first guests by the end of 2022. Upon completion in 2030, there will be 50 hotels, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residences across 22 islands and six inland sites.

Saudi Arabia’s NEOM is planning to launch its first hotel by the end of 2022, and it will open up to 15 hotels between 2023 and 2025, before ramping up the pace to reach 30 hotels annually.
Head of Tourism at NEOM Andrew McEvoy said that talks were held with big five brands, IHG, Hilton, Accor, and others.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market 2021 held in Dubai, McEvoy added that the expected initial number of visitors next year ranges between 20,000 and 50,000, indicating that Neom is targeting about one million visitors by 2025, and 5 million by 2030. He revealed that ten of NEOM's 39 islands are being developed and will be delivered on time.

So this is extremely confusing, can anyone shed any light on the situation?

The pages on the Ritz-Carlton page for this resort show all the amenities etc but no information on opening / booking. But if you look for a Hilton resort in the same area a very similar looking resort is open there.

    https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/jzhjihi-hilton-jiuzhaigou-resort/

Where they always the two branded resorts in the same location or has the hotel been sold to another operator and no longer expecting a Ritz-Carlton in that area? The Hilton definitely matches the concept art and resort layout shown here for the Ritz-Carlton and the amenities are described in the same way i.e. villas, spa, location etc.

Here is a photo heavy review of the Hilton and you can see how it matches the concept art and other images we have seen before, would be weird if there were two hotels in the same resort that looked so similar but perhaps that was always the case?

Well secured complex 24 hours a day, with green spaces, and golf courses. The Villa is composed of 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, private swimming pool and several terraces with unobstructed mountain and river views.

Cabana Resort is all about living the good life now. News about the planning, range and variety of attractions devoted to Cabana’s entertainment possibilities has become like sweet music to the ears of fun and excitement starved locals, visitors and seasonal residents alike. Its developers want to springboard from the Platinum Coast’s world class sun and sand reputation, to introduce round-the-clock and seasons, 21st Century resort and entertainment experiences that the whole family - and community - can enjoy.
The wide entrance to the 25-acre development is at its east end, defined by vibrant views of its 7-acre Waterpark enclosed within a meandering Lazy River that features multiple water play, lounge, relaxation and shaded areas. A ‘surfable’ triple Flow Rider, waterslide, splash pad and separate children’s pool and play area are planned for the Waterpark. A koi pond will define the Waterpark and Grand Food Hall’s east entrance and a neighborhood park and butterfly garden at the Vanderbilt Drive end of the property will be open to the public.

Ground breaking is projected to begin next month, with a 14-month build out of its 7-story, 110-unit condominium structure. During that time, the existing Bonita Village buildings and common elements will be resurfaced to blend into Cabana’s contemporary style and presented as part of the Cabana Resort package.
Spanning the width of Cabana’s broad Bonita Beach Road frontage from Meadowlark Lane to Vanderbilt Drive, the Grand Food Hall’s soaring see-through structures will introduce the new face of Southwest Florida’s only condominium and entertainment megaplex.

The first Great Wolf Lodge in the UK is getting closer to being realised.

The planning inspector has approved an appeal made by American company Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) to build Great Wolf Lodge in Chesterton, near Bicester.

A spokesperson for GWR said: “Today we learned that our goal of developing our first Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park resort in the UK was approved.

"We are looking forward to becoming part of the local community and are committed to working with the local residents and businesses to help ensure this resort brings economic, recreational and community benefits to Chesterton and the wider Bicester area.

"The development of this resort represents a £200 million investment into the local community – creating 1,000 jobs during construction and approximately 600 jobs to operate the resort.”

Site is still on track despite Coronavirus.

Major construction has already started at Qiddiya, despite the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic. Potts comments: “Given the phase of our project, we were able to keep on with the site work and infrastructure work. The Qiddiya IT and HR teams did a remarkable job in preparing us all to migrate to working from home, in the virtual world. We adapted well. So, it’s not impacting any opening dates or anything like that. We have been very fortunate.”
The giga-project in Saudi Arabia is being developed in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and is still on track to be opened in 2023.
