https://theveritasdesigngroup.com/projects/?id=11714Neom is a 26,500 skm resort-themed city located in the Tabuk province of North-western Saudi Arabia facing the Red Sea. It was launched in 2017 and is envisioned to incorporate smart city technologies and operate independently from the existing governmental framework. In 2020 VERITAS was engaged to design a world-class carbon-neutral resort to be called the Pattis on a 26-ha site located along 0.8 km of beachfront within the Neom master plan.
The Neom Pattis Resort and Spa will consist of exclusive private villas and suites organized around common landscaped spaces. The architectural character of the resort is influenced by Greek, Caribbean and Arab traditions combined with a modern sensibility. The luxurious landscaping of the beachfront areas will form a stunning contrasting backdrop to the sand dunes of the desert in the background. The 130 standard villas and suite rooms will all be sea-facing and a private jetty will extend deep into the Red Sea. The project also incorporates conference/meeting facilities and a wide array of guest amenities, resulting in a total built-up area of 16,300 sm.
In an historic move, Macau’s ‘Big Six’ Casino operators have been granted ten-year extensions of their gaming licenses in exchange for a commitment to invest $14.9 billion U.S. dollars over the next decade, with 90% of that directed towards non-gaming attractions and experiences.
Globally renowned design firm Legacy Entertainment has positioned itself at the forefront of this effort, and is currently developing a slate of ambitious Theme Park, Water Park, and Attraction products tailored specifically for the Macau market. Most recently, Legacy completed the design of a 30,000 square meter Indoor Theme Park for one of the city’s largest integrated resorts.
“Working shoulder-to-shoulder with icons like Galaxy’s Francis Lui and Melco’s Lawrence Ho has been among the highlights of my career. Together, we’ve helped shape the landscape of modern-day Macau. My entire team and I are thrilled to continue working in one of our favorite markets as Macau enters this new era,” says Taylor Jeffs, President & Chief Creative Officer of Legacy Entertainment, one of Macau’s most notable entertainment design consultants.
For nearly 15 years, the Legacy team has had a major presence all throughout the Pearl River Delta, with its principals having served as lead design consultants for both Galaxy Macau, which opened in 2011, as well as Studio City Macau, which debuted in 2015. Just across the river, the Legacy Entertainment team was also responsible for the design of the Chimelong Marine Science Park, a colossal 370,000 square meter complex that will claim the title of “World’s Largest Indoor Theme Park” upon its debut later this year.
The outlook is optimistic for Asia’s gaming capital of Macau. Last month, the territory’s six largest casino operators saw revenue increases up to 36%, with a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels anticipated to take two years. Historically, non-gaming revenue has only accounted for less than 15% of the local government’s revenue, so this shift in priorities will fundamentally change the way Macau exists.
“The goal now is different than it was when we started designing Galaxy Macau in 2006, and Studio City Macau in 2011,” Jeffs adds. “Back then, the mandate was to create the world’s most compelling gaming destination. Now we’re out to simply create one of the world’s top entertainment destinations for all ages. It’s a tall order, but I am confident my brilliant team of collaborators is up to the challenge.”

https://www.redseaglobal.com/en/-/media-center/amaala-unveils-first-hotel-brand-with-focus-on-luxury-and-longevityRed Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism destinations, Amaala and The Red Sea, has today announced a partnership with leading longevity clinic and wellness brand, Clinique La Prairie.
The partnership involves the development of a high-end 36,115 sqm Clinique La Prairie Health Resort within Amaala, which is located on Saudi Arabia’s north-western coastline. The exclusive resort will offer 13 villas, as well as housing 52 rooms and suites.
Clinique La Prairie’s approach to wellbeing prioritizes longevity. This is symbolized by the central “Longevity Plaza” leading to four distinctive areas of the resort corresponding to each one of the property’s pillars – medical care, nutrition, movement and wellbeing. These sections will host a vast array of activities and facilities, including all the latest technologies developed over 90 years by Clinique La Prairie to enable clients to live a longer, healthier, and fuller life.
The resort also features a diagnostics lab, museum, beach club, workshop and training rooms, private dining space, and even a cooking school, ensuring visitors can embark on an inimitable journey of rejuvenation and self-discovery.
Landscaping around the property is vital to architect John Heah’s vision for the resort. Idyllic gardens are used to establish a sense of place and tranquility and add to the connected journey for visitors.
Clinique La Prairie has a unique approach to wellbeing, combining leading preventative medicine, genetics and epigenetics with bespoke lifestyle and nutrition plans always grounded in the latest sciences. Using the CLP Longevity Method, medical specialists and holistic experts will provide guests with highly personalized revitalizing, immune-boosting and transformative itineraries over one week or longer stays, to embrace health and life to its fullest potential.
The clinic’s expert will work to slow time, as well as restore visitors’ internal balance and remedy a wide range of conditions, including fatigue, anxiety, digestive disorders, insomnia, diabetes and more. Cutting-edge science and ancient healing practices combine to offer holistic practices.
Clinique La Prairie will offer synergistic treatments to rejuvenate inside and out. The medical pillar will include advanced diagnostics lab and radiology, physio, neuroscience, dermo, aesthetics, and dentistry. On the wellbeing side the destination will provide cryochamber, hyperbaric suites, IV infusion and a series of next-generation therapies to be unveiled, all of which contribute to Amaala’s standing as a distinctive wellness destination.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Amaala, with the entire destination set to be powered by 100% renewable energy. Respect for flora and fauna also runs through every aspect of the resort’s design. For instance, Amaala’s buildings have been brought around 100 meters back from the coastline to avoid interference with the natural habitat of the Red Sea’s fragile turtle populations. Lighting is also carefully used to protect the night sky and limit the impact of artificial light on wildlife.
Simone Gibertoni, CEO of Clinique La Prairie, stated: “At Amaala, we are creating the most important Health and Longevity-focused resort ever developed. We’re delighted to be building our very first full-scale destination in such an extraordinary setting and to help bring Red Sea Global’s vision of regenerative, ultra-luxury tourism to life.”
Phase one of the destination is well underway and expects to welcome its first guests in 2024. It will consist of eight resorts offering upwards of 1,300 hotel keys.
Upon completion, Amaala will be home to more than 3,000 hotel rooms across 25 hotels, and approximately 900 luxury residential villas, apartments, and estate homes, alongside high-end retail establishments, fine dining, wellness, and recreational facilities.

The Qiddiya Uptown will host a number of major recreational assets in the form of stadiums and arenas, but importantly, describe itself as a 24/7 destination with a richly activated programme and exciting public realm that will complement both the urban and natural characteristics. The Qiddiya Uptown presents a bold vision for developing the permanent population within the wider Qiddiya masterplan. The public realm will spearhead this vision with a rich yet appropriate offer of integrated public spaces that can flex and adapt to the evolving needs of sustainable urban growth. It will place the pedestrian users at the forefront of it strategies and approach, addressing the very real challenges of outdoor thermal comfort, water demand and social support mechanisms.
The overarching strategy is bedded on key public realm principles that have emerged off the guiding principles of the overall masterplan. The public realm principles are complementary to the urban design approach and underpin the placemaking approaches of this incredible project.
