So this is a weird one...
The Ritz-Carlton official site still says coming soon and has a single concept art on the main page - this hasn't change in at least 1 year.

I found this video on YouTube which is just a bunch of photos and concept art (I think a lot of them are from this site to be honest) and it lists this website - www/sienna-tamudabay.com. Sienna were the investment firm behind the Tamuda Bay project with Ritz-Carlton as the operator. It made me wonder if they were still working on it and, to my surprise, the website no longer exists and the URL is actually up for sale.

I can't find anything later than 2017 that mentions Sienna being involved but there is also no real reason to believe they have pulled out of the project as we know work was still ongoing since then.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going on there?

Opening has been pushed back into "first half" of 2021

Macau casino operator SJM Holdings Ltd has reported a net loss of nearly HKD3.03 billion (US$390.2 million) for full-year 2020, on revenue that fell by 77.8 percent in year-on-year terms. That compares with a profit of approximately HKD3.21 billion in the previous year, according to a filing on Tuesday to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Such revenue for the 12 months to December 31 was just below HKD7.51 billion, compared with HKD33.88 billion in 2019. Gaming revenue for 2020 was nearly HKD7.30 billion, down 78.0 percent from the previous year, the group said in its latest filing.
In Tuesday’s filing, the firm said it now “anticipates” opening its resort scheme on Cotai “during the first half of 2021”. In October, the firm had mentioned it opening by the “first quarter of 2021”.

“Construction work on the Grand Lisboa Palace … has been completed and application has been made for the relevant licences [in order] to begin operation in the first half of 2021,” added the casino firm.

Under the legally-binding letter of intent signed with China Construction, work is expected to take 1,053 days – just under three years – to complete. When phases three and four are complete, the resort will double in size to 2 million sq m, making it one of the world’s largest leisure and conference destinations.

  6. COVID progress for Tigre de Cristal and an update on the expansion.

Suncity Group Holdings and its majority-owned subsidiary Summit Ascent Holdings have revealed that staff at their Russian integrated resort, Tigre de Cristal, have started receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.

According to a Tuesday announcement, deployment of the Russian-developed Sputnik V vaccine for mass use in Vladivostok, where Tigre de Cristal is located, is aimed at ensuring staff and guests are safeguarded against the spread of COVID-19 while expediting a return to normalcy. Suncity, which holds a 69.7% stake in Summit Ascent which in turn owns 67.5% of Tigre de Cristal operator Oriental Regent Ltd, said it continues to take precautions at its Russian IR including turning off every other slot machine and capping seating capacity at restaurants.
Suncity said it has now completed upgrades to Phase I of Tigre de Cristal, including the addition of a newly decorated Suncity VIP room, a brand-new authentic hot pot restaurant and a gentlemen’s club.

Phase 2 development is also well underway. Due to open in 2022, Phase 2 will double the total size of Tigre de Cristal and triple the number of hotel rooms while adding more restaurants plus a state-of-the-art indoor beach club.

Atlantis The Palm’s Aquaventure waterpark’s brand-new, massive extension is opening on Monday March 1, and Time Out Dubai’s been along for a first look.

Get ready for some spectacular thrills on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah as Trident Tower, Splashers Lagoon and Splashers Cove are promising some awesome new slides and rides. The huge extension means that Aquaventure is now the world’s largest waterpark, as the venue has expanded by a third. And it now features a total of 28 brand-new record-breaking waterslides and attraction.

There are 12 new slides in Trident Tower, which stands at 48m tall, and 16 in across Splashers Lagoon and Splashers’ Cove – the latter two of which form the largest kids-only waterpark experience in the Middle East.

“Now with 105 slides, attractions and experiences for all ages and thrill levels, the expansion has increased Atlantis Aquaventure by a third in size to feature 79 rides across three towers, 26 marine and watersport experiences and 26 food and beverage outlets and kiosks across the park. We’ve also doubled the length of Aquaventure beach to 1km.” Tim Kelly - executive vice president and managing director of Atlantis The Palm.

This video shows how the islands came about in 2003, really interesting to see construction techniques and understand why some stand dormant still.

I don't believe so, they have the same backers but they are completely separate projects with different teams working on them as far as I can tell.

Visiting The World Islands for a tour around Dubai's iconic development made a great day trip. Located only about a 20 minute boat ride from Dubai, we've always been curious to visit the World Islands. We booked a day trip to visit one of the islands called, The Island. It is formerly known as Lebanon Island, and it was the first island open to the public. The World Islands consist of about 300 artificial islands in the Arabian Sea.

Interesting article about the state of Las Vegas post pandemic and the construction that's ongoing.

Image is of the new convention centre which may not be timed very well as they predict lower attendance at large gatherings for the next few years.

There’s a lot riding on the city reviving quickly. In Allegiant Stadium, built just west of the Strip at a cost of $1.8 billion (and partially financed by a hotel room tax), the National Football League’s Raiders completed their inaugural season in front of 65,000 empty seats. Downtown, a massive sports book and 777 more rooms were added to the city’s inventory when the Circa Resort & Casino opened in October. And the $4.3 billion, 3,500-room Resorts World is on pace to open this summer, giving a boost to the long-stagnant north Strip area.
Scott Sibella, president of Resorts World, which will be the first new resort to open on the Strip in more than a decade, is installing state-of-the-art technology in preparation for Day 1.

“Resorts World Las Vegas has a natural advantage, creating a new resort experience, chock-full of new and innovative technology and advancements that didn’t exist 10 years ago,” Sibella said. “Our team is working diligently to review every touchpoint across the resort through a new lens that is hyperfocused on sanitation and safety.”

The Saudi-based Emaar, the Economic City (Emaar EC), has signed a framework cooperation agreement with the Kingdom’s Tourism Development Fund, FTG Development Company, Albilad Investment Company, and Ekofine, to set up a $479 million fund.
The Rixos Emerald Shores project is set to be one of the largest tourist resorts to be established in KAEC. It will be constructed on a total area of 275,000sqm along the Red Sea coast. It will feature 600 metres of beachfront and a golf course.

The resort is expected to be one of the largest leisure tourism destinations in Saudi Arabia, with a variety of facilities and hotel units. It includes more than 500 rooms and 35 luxury hotel villas built in a ‘distinctive and modern style’. The resort will provide an integrated water park, beaches, clubs for children, and gyms. In addition, there will be more than 10 varied options for dining, consisting of international restaurants and cafes, it concluded.
