In the cradle of Saudi culture and arts, Diriyah Company has announced the awarding of a $1.4 billion (SAR 5.1 billion) contract for the Royal Diriyah Opera House a landmark development set to become a beacon for performing arts and cultural exchange in the Kingdom.
Designed by international architecture firm Snøhetta the opera house span 46,000 square meters. It will feature four distinct venues, including a 2,000-seat main theatre, two 450-seat multipurpose theatres, and a shaded rooftop amphitheater, blending modern performance needs with traditional Najdi architectural influences.
Located in the historic Diriyah area, the project emphasizes public accessibility, environmental sustainability, and cultural authenticity. The design includes green gardens, shaded walkways, and a variety of public spaces that connect seamlessly to the surrounding community. Solar-ready rooftops, efficient cooling systems, and water-saving strategies are among the eco-conscious elements incorporated.
