Initial designs for the spa resort were a single building with zones and an undulating roofline, but Trafford Council has approved plans for a £250 million flowing pavilion-style concept.
This new design for Therme Manchester features separate connected structures that are “immersed and enveloped in a natural landscape”, with a revised location for car parking and enhanced connectivity with public transport.

New pictures have surfaced of Sou Fujimoto’s 700-meter diameter wooden ring roof taking shape in Japan. Designed as the master plan for the highly-anticipated Expo 2025 Osaka, the proposal reveals a 60,000 sqm green-filled structure that will serve as the international fair’s main circulation path. In a recent interview with designboom, the Japanese architect stated that the roof ‘not only protects people from sunlight and rain but is also enormous, with a diameter of almost 700 meters. We are designing it using a wooden structure, which presents unique challenges due to the scale and materials involved. However, Japan has a wonderful tradition of historical wood construction, and I aim to draw inspiration from it and blend it with new technology in the construction process. This work is not only a wonderful trial for working on such a large scale but also an exciting challenge in terms of innovative construction techniques.’

on 5 September, it was learned that the completion date had been pushed back by nearly a year from late 2029 to the fall of 2030. This is leading some to wonder if more delays won’t be on the horizon in the years leading up to the proposed opening.
On the same day, Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City announced the completion of a draft agreement covering the construction, operation, and other arrangements for the resort. When the agreement is approved by the national government and formalized, the operators will receive Japan’s first-ever casino licenses.
Nevertheless, developers are wasting no time and plan to begin the groundwork this fall, while the Expo facilities on the island are also still being constructed. The resort facilities will begin construction in the spring of 2025, just as the Expo is getting underway. If all goes according to plan, the integrated resort will be finished in 2030 and mainly run by the Japanese arm of MGM Resorts International and Japanese conglomerate Orix.

New Bradenton, Florida, USA convention center hotel will be a resort ‘destination.’
When the eight-story, 252-room Marriott opens next door to the Bradenton Area Convention Center in early 2024, it will be more than a hotel. It will be at the heart of a new destination. Planned for the property is 10,000-square-feet of retail space, facing an amphitheater with stage that can accommodate 5,500 people, plus another retail space totaling 7,500 square feet.
10,000 square feet of meeting space, a 50,000-gallon swimming pool and a recording studio, for possible special event coverage. Several years in the future, there could be a second hotel on the property, this one planned for 121 rooms. Although it won’t be opened at the same time as the Marriott Palmetto, a multi-million dollar private beach club for hotel guests is planned across the street at the Riviera Dunes property, including a golf putting course, a restaurant, bocce ball and pickleball.

Jubail Island has announced the successful connection of the water network on the island, marking a significant milestone that reinforces LEAD Real Estate Developer’s commitment to delivering the project on time.

The water network has been seamlessly linked to the existing water Transmission Line, operated by Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO) in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC). This connection paves the way for the final stages of testing and commissioning the internal water network of Jubail Island.
The project has also recently handed over the plots of land to its stakeholders. This achievement keeps us firmly on track with our schedule and guarantees the on-time handover of the villas.

MGM Resorts is looking to begin construction for its integrated resort in Osaka, Japan by middle to late next year, MGM President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle has revealed. The announcement comes after the company signed a licensing agreement with Marriott International last week, expected to draw high-end travelers to its Las Vegas' operations.

In an interview with Las Vegas Review-Journal, Hornbuckle said that the group expects to sign the implementation agreement for its casino resort in Osaka in autumn. Speaking to the publication, he said: “It’s early in the game, but for us, it’s been a 12-year journey. We’re looking forward to signing our area development plan this fall and starting in earnest on the ground, hopefully, by middle to late next year in terms of pylons and beginning construction. We’re shooting for a 2030 opening.”
He further confirmed that the property would be on reclaimed land, the Yumeshima Island, which was “originally built to compete for the ’72 Olympics, and it’s been sitting there since.” Hornbuckle noted that the site is slated to house the World Expo in 2025, "so a lot of the infrastructure and some of the other things we need for tourism will be brought to bear."
