Red Sea Global celebrates first flight to new airport

Riyadh, 21 September, 2023: Red Sea Global (RSG), the multi-project developer behind the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism destinations, The Red Sea and Amaala, is celebrating the first flight to its Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which touched down on the new runway earlier today (21 September 2023).

Departing from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh each Thursday and Saturday, The SAUDIA flight, which takes under two hours, marks the start of a new twice-weekly service. The flights return to Riyadh later the same day.

Positioned within an eight-hour flight from 85 percent of the world’s population, RSI will grow to welcome international flights from next year as additional phase one resorts open their doors.

THIRTY CONTAINERS DESIGNED FOR A JOURNEY TO JAPAN

A proposal for the Spanish Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has been designed by Madrid-based architecture studio Selgascano in collaboration with FRPO. From its construction process to its forward-thinking approach to reuse and adaptability, this temporary pavilion would celebrate environmental responsibility and innovative inflatable architecture. The team faced a unique challenge when conceptualizing the pavilion — constructing anything in Japan, especially in Osaka, during the run-up to the Universal Exposition, would be daunting and expensive. The solution was to prefabricate as many elements as possible in Spain, making them more cost-effective, and then transporting everything to Osaka for assembly within a matter of weeks.

The project was first proposed for Expo 2020 Dubai back in 2018, and a similar version has since been constructed in London‘s Design District last year.

Saudi Arabia has initiated plans to submit a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, proposing the inclusion of the NEOM giga-development in the northeastern region of the country as one of the venues.
According to The Times, the original idea of co-hosting the tournament in 2030 with Egypt and Greece has been abandoned, and Saudi Arabia is now focusing on a solo bid for the 2034 World Cup.

As part of its bid, Saudi Arabia envisions hosting matches within the NEOM project, potentially at the Trojena ski resort, which has already secured the rights to host the 2029 Winter Games.

The mountainous resort and other high-altitude locations in the country are being considered for hosting games in a summer tournament. Alternatively, a winter tournament, similar to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, could also be an option.

Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, has suggested that the issuance of the first casino license in the UAE may be imminent, with the company's planned casino resort in the Northern Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah set to become the only establishment of its kind in the country.

“We have everything we need to operate gaming in Al Marjan. So while there may be conversation in other Emirates about legalization or legalization at the federal level, thereby covering all Emirates, I expect that we will have our license for Ras Al Khaimah actually imminently,” Billings said during Wynn's second-quarter earnings call.

Billings further told investors that the company has a very substantial growth opportunity in the UAE and called it “the most exciting gaming market in decades.” The planned $3.9 billion casino resort, described by analysts as “one of the most exciting growth prospects in the gaming industry globally,” will be called Wynn Al Marjan Island and is expected to open in early 2027.
