"At this point, I don't know whether they will be completed in time (for the Expo's opening) or not," Miyamoto, also chairman of general contractor Shimizu Corp., told a press conference regarding the delayed construction of pavilions for foreign countries participating in the Osaka Expo.

Construction work has resumed on Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, a skyscraper designed by Chicago-based studio Adrian Smith + Gill Gordon Architecture, which is expected to become the world's tallest building.

Jeddah Tower will hold a Four Seasons hotel, residences, offices as well as the world's highest observation deck on a constructed building. The first images of the prospective tower were released in 2011, and ground was broken in 2013, but the project has been harried by constant starts and stops.

Hard Rock Bristol Construction ‘Moving Fast,’ Early Summer 2024 Opening Targeted.

When Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol construction began on the permanent resort property in early December 2022, company officials said they expected the $400 million development to take about 18 months to complete. That timeline hasn’t changed roughly halfway into the build.
Hard Rock Bristol opened a temporary gaming space inside the former Bristol Mall in July 2022. Dubbed the “Bristol Casino — Future Home of Hard Rock,” the interim casino has exceeded revenue expectations and has since added additional gaming machines to accommodate demand.
Hard Rock International, owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, is renovating the former mall into a Hard Rock casino. The company is also building a six-story, 303-room hotel adjacent to the mall with an indoor and outdoor pool, a gym, and a convention facility. A later construction phase is to add a second hotel tower with approximately 500 rooms and additional resort amenities.

A £250million plan to create a huge waterpark and wellbeing resort at the site of the former Events City at Trafford Park looks set for approval. The scheme to create a resort - known as ‘Therme’ - goes before Trafford’s planning and development management committee meeting on Thursday, September 14.
Four objections to the plan have been submitted to the council. These include fears over increased traffic and its disruption to nearby businesses; submissions that the filter for turning into Mercury Way from Barton Dock Road is not large enough; that the car park should be sited where the Event City parking was originally located; and objections to the use of Mercury Way for parking with a drop-off point.
They also say the development requires changes to ‘third party land, which will impact on operations and adjacent businesses’ and that the plans take ‘no consideration of significant numbers of pedestrians being channelled into an area with regular vehicle movements and 40ft trailers to the neighbouring warehouse building’. The objectors also alleged inaccuracies and inconsistencies in transport surveys and data.

Disney also released a concept image for another park in the development, Laughing Place Ranch, "designed to celebrate Walt's love for horses with an equestrian-themed dog park featuring separate play areas for small and large pets," Disney said in its press release.

So to confirm - Genting is no longer a stakeholder in this property but they continue to use the "Resorts World" name so assume this was sold along with their stake in the business?

Leisure and hospitality company Genting Hong Kong Limited, which used to hold its interests in Treasure Island Entertainment Complex Limited, sold the interests in January 2021 to a company owned by local real estate businesswoman, Ao Mio Leong, for HK$750 million.

I felt like it was relevant to the overall push for construction around Riyadh to become more business focussed. Guess it could live in Miscelaneous if admin felt that way but new airport etc and other local construction felt like it was relevant here.

The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) has formally approved the Bayou Phoenix development group’s plan for Six Flags New Orleans.
NORA’s executive director Brenda Breaux said they are “working toward getting an executed lease”, which will give Bayou Phoenix unrestricted access to the site. The developer can then begin the site preparation.
Project costs have been estimated at between $500m and nearly $1 billion. However, Bayou Phoenix said realistic projections will not be possible until the project is more advanced.

The L.A. City Council last week called for a halt to the project with an 8-6 vote on a motion introduced by Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents the area. The motion calls on the Los Angeles City Planning Director to reconsider the initiation of a General Plan amendment which gave a specific zoning designation for the proposed hotel to be built in a residential area.

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBS) has released new visualisations of a proposed visitor attraction on Dundee's waterfront for The Eden Project. The latest proposals for the ‘international-scale’ scheme, which will sit on the former Dundee Gasworks in East Dock Street, were unveiled yesterday (1 August) ahead of a planning application in the autumn.
FCBS’s designs – now out to public consultation following a Proposal of Application Notice – involve the creation of different spaces for exhibits, performances, learning, play, and art across the site. Facilities for immersive experiences, horticulture, live music, and food and beverage facilities also form a part of the latest plans.
‘We have taken a regenerative approach to the design that will start to restore the site, an approach which will restore biodiversity to the site, reusing materials to create an immersive pedagogic facility. ‘We are looking forward to listening to more to people in Dundee during the upcoming consultation, to inform the design development.’

Members of the public can attend drop-in sessions on 16 August and 13 September before the final designs are submitted to Dundee City Council in the autumn.
