Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas announces the upcoming addition of a new resort in Brazil. With a modern and sustainable design focused on the location’s natural beauty, the launch of Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort will represent the debut of the luxury brand both in Brazil and in South America.

The property will be located in Baixio, a district on the northern coastline of Bahia, approximately 150 km from the state capital of Salvador. Known for its crystal-clear lagoons, the small fishing village has a setting that inspires tranquility and is one of the most sought-after destinations on the region’s coast throughout the year. The ocean and one of the largest protected sandbank reserves in Brazil will serve as the backdrop for Anantara Mamucabo, which will be spread across a 500,000 square metre site. Construction of the new-build property will begin in 2023, with the resort slated to launch in 2025.

Anantara Mamucabo will offer a total of 116 guest rooms, suites and pool villas, with sizes varying from 70 to 163 square metres. The resort's innovative and unique architecture and interior decoration is being designed by Sidney Quintela Architecture + Urban Planning, with landscaping by Alex Hanazaki, considered one of the most creative landscape designers in Brazil.

The leisure areas will be distributed throughout the resort’s vast grounds and will include three restaurants, two outdoor swimming pools, a beach club and water sports area, a kids club and an area for babies and infants. The main pool will feature a multi-level “waterfall” design, creating different environments for relaxing and enjoying the pool and water.

Inside the beach club, a restaurant and a bar will serve regional cuisine from Bahia, while the hotel's main restaurant will offer contemporary international and Brazilian cuisine with a view overlooking the entire grounds. An Asian restaurant will be located in the central area of the resort that will boast a stunning view of the Mamucabo River, from which the resort gets its name.

Additional facilities at the resort will include a substantial sports area, including both a tennis court and a paddle tennis court, a well-equipped fitness centre, a yoga terrace and a relaxation area. Children’s entertainment will be provided by a kids’ club including an exclusive playful space in a large green and wooded area.

With its design complementing the tranquil character of the local area, the resort will feature an Anantara Spa focused on both body and mental health, offering an extensive range of treatments and wellness offerings. Integrated and isolated environments, such as a swimming pool, massage rooms, a sauna and a hydrotherapy circuit, will promote total relaxation.

For corporate and social events, adaptable spaces with state-of-the-art facilities will allow for various sizes of meetings. Social events such as weddings, cocktails, and end of the year parties can be held next to the Beach Club, with an incredible sea view.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels, parent company to Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, and Group CEO Minor International, commented, “We are excited to announce the development of this future Anantara in Brazil, which will represent the brand’s debut on the South American continent. It is a part of the world we have been keen to expand Anantara’s footprint into and this exciting project represents the perfect opportunity.”

Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort will be a true refuge for nature lovers in an enchanting region on Brazil’s northern coast of Bahia. It will join the brand's collection of luxury hotels and resorts, which offer guests genuine experiences in some of the world's most exciting destinations.

Gillespies is providing the landscape design throughout the airport, crafting internal and external gardens that will offer visitors a tranquil respite before taking off or driving on to the resort. The gardens mimic the organic form of the building, bring the beauty of Saudi Arabia’s colourful and textured landscapes into the heart of the building, with a mix of local and native species that aim to enrich the experience and wellbeing of travellers.

The use of local and native species will reduce the overall water consumption of the project, which aims for LEED Platinum. Extensive research and environmental modelling of the internal garden environments ensured the most responsible and appropriate mix of plants were specified for the scheme. In contrast, the harsher outer environment dictated a rich and diverse yet resilient mix of exclusively native species.

The largest hotel within the World of Efteling will be named Efteling Grand Hotel. It will be the first on-site accommodation to be located within the theme park itself. Construction of the hotel will start after the summer and Efteling Grand Hotel is expected to open in 2024.
It will be a striking seven-storey building, with a 106-metre facade, giving a grand impression to all those that walk past. The open architecture will resemble the rich history of the theme park and make the hotel distinctive and inviting. Seven towers will frame one of the building’s stand out features - a gigantic clock with a pendulum, sitting high up in the green oxidised copper roof.

A classically designed glass conservatory will be divided across two floors. A nine-metre high and 16-metre wide arcade will make an impressive entrance for guests to walk into the park. Meanwhile, an expansive square between the main entrance and the new hotel will create a relaxing place for hotel guests and park visitors to appreciate the surroundings.
The Efteling Grand Hotel will be located behind the main entrance of the park, overlooking the watershow Aquanura and the Fairytale Forest.
The Efteling Grand Hotel will have 143 rooms and approximately 700 beds. This will bring the total number of beds within the World of Efteling to almost 3,900. In addition, the new hotel will have a spa with a swimming pool. The two restaurants, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, will offer seating inside the conservatory and on the terrace overlooking the Aquanura water show. There will be two shops in the hotel with a total area of over 450 m² offering the opportunity to buy a souvenir. Both the shops and the restaurants will be open for hotel guests and park visitors.

Hard Rock International and GEK TERNA Group held a special event in Athens yesterday signaling the official start of their partnership for the construction and operation of an integrated resort and casino, located in the iconic area of the Athens Riviera, within the context of “The Ellinikon” development. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens, which is set to open in 2026, will be a unique destination in Europe combining a five-star luxury hotel, a world class gaming floor, a premier meeting and convention space, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue, internationally renowned food and beverage, luxurious Rock® Spa and Pool Complex, and a high-end retail promenade.

“We are thrilled to announce the partnership with GEK TERNA Group and further expand Hard Rock’s reach across the globe in the great City of Athens,” said Jim Allen, Hard Rock International Chairman. “This development will bring over 3,000 permanent jobs to the people of Greece and we look forward to bring our unique brand of entertainment and provide an unparalleled experience for guests of all ages.”

“This development will create a premium tourism spot, expected to offer employment to thousands of people, yield significant revenues to the public sector, and add value to Greece’s brand” said George Peristeris, Chairman and CEO of GEK TERNA Group. “Along with Hard Rock we are realizing a private investment of over 1 billion euros, reaffirming our trust in Greece’s prospects and potential.”

The design of the project draws its inspiration from basic Greek elements such as the sea, the arts and ancient mythology, which it combines with the modern requirements of architecture and the inescapable need for harmonious integration of the project in its environment and location. Open spaces, gardens and water features are key elements of the project’s design, with total green open space covering close to 205,000 m2.

The central Tower draws its inspiration from nautical references, incorporating in its design the waves, the sails and the lighthouse. Built on three levels, the Tower has three different orientations corresponding to the reference points located within the imaginary triangle that is formed around the project: the Acropolis, the sea and Mount Hymettus. Its iconic shape will serve as a symbol of the region and reference the importance of the connection between land, sea and sky.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens will be an international destination, offering its visitors an exciting mix of entertainment, food and beverage and accommodations, embracing the Mediterranean climate and providing special outdoor spaces.

The development brings a vibrant casino of just under 15,000 m2, comprising of 200 tables and 2,000 gaming machines. The Tower consists of more than 1,000 guest rooms and suites, totaling almost 3,500 beds overlooking the waterfront or views across Athens to the Parthenon. The project also includes the highest outdoor rooftop terrace in Athens, with a rooftop pool deck that consists of Bars, the Rock® Spa and Body Rock Fitness, celebrating the year-around sunshine and pleasant temperatures with indoor-outdoor connections.

The Hard Rock Live’s theater is designed to entertain audiences of 3,000, while the stage extends to the exterior for outdoor festivals and concerts with an additional 7,500 seats. Inspired by the ancient Greek amphitheater, the outdoor lawn is bringing together culture and entertainment, harmonically bridging the Hard Rock brand with the Greek lifestyle.

An outdoor village with a variety of retail, high-end local and international restaurants, dinning terraces and bar and lounge spaces encompasses the casino, while the conference and exhibition center which exceed 23,000 m2, provide a large expo hall, ball rooms, meeting areas and support spaces.

The 30-year concession is a partnership between Hard Rock International (51%) and GEK TERNA Group (49%), with the latter being also responsible for the entire construction of the project, which is expected to begin within the first months of 2023 and last close to 3 years, setting the opening of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens in 2026.
