New Murabba Development Company – a PIF Company - today unveiled the design of New Murabba Stadium, an architectural marvel with a capacity of over 45,000. The stadium will be a central pillar of “New Murabba” the transformative downtown destination in Riyadh City.

Inspired by the layered overlapping planes and peeling planar texture of the native Acacia tree, the New Murabba Stadium's design is a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation that defines New Murabba. The stadium will feature cutting-edge sporting technology, creating an immersive and personalized fan experience. The stadium will be a vibrant community hub featuring illuminated entry points and shaded spaces for gathering and socializing.

As New Murabba prepares for its groundbreaking development, Mukaab, an iconic landmark within the modern downtown district, is undergoing significant progress. Backed by the kingdom’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the New Murabba project, to be developed by the New Murabba Development Company (NMDC), is set to become the world’s largest modern downtown covering an area of 19km2 and offering more than 25 million m2 of floor area.

Saudi Arabia has embraced AI through initiatives like New Murabba, a futuristic downtown area that promises to be the world’s first immersive experiential destination and can house over 100,00 residents and generate over 300,000 jobs, all of them with sustainability at their core. Similarly, NEOM, an AI-driven district being built from scratch, and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), which focuses on AI research and development are all projects aim to attract tech giants, foster innovation, and serve as hubs for AI-driven solutions, ultimately contributing to the region’s growth and development.

From a technological perspective, Barakat underscored the pivotal role that artificial intelligence will play in the project's development, with a particular focus on energy management.

“Generative AI can be used across all spectrums of the creative space, and the whole inside of the Mukaab is the virtual environment, which we’re doing. We also use AI for a lot of the data analytics,” said Barakat.

He added: “We use AI to help us filter through a lot of large-scale unstructured data, and we think that once you’ve built it and you have your customers live, you need AI to help manage communities at this scale.”

China Harbour Engineering Company Wins Saudi’s New Murabba Contract

Saudi Arabia’s New Murabba Development Company has awarded a contract to China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd for the first phase of excavation required for the future construction of the basement structures underneath the Mukaab and surrounding podiums. The project’s scope also involves backfilling and enhancing the ground in the surrounding areas of development.
