Aldar Properties, in partnership with Diamond Developers, has launched The Sustainable City – Yas Island, a sustainability-centric community offering a new way of life for Abu Dhabi residents.
With a strong focus on enabling an active community, The Sustainably City – Yas Island will also be home to a range of communal facilities and amenities, including an equestrian centre with stables, a track and two arenas, a gym and multiple pools, cycling and jogging tracks, football, basketball and padel courts, retail and F&B outlets, and more. Within this low-emissions community, a network of communal battery-charged buggies and bicycles will be available so that residents and visitors can move around while their cars remain parked on the outer edge of the development.
In the first phase of the project, 272 condominiums and 240 townhouses will be released for public sale on 19 January. Condominiums are available in one-, two-, and three-bedroom formats, with the average price for a one-bed standing at $243k. Three- and four-bedroom townhouses at the development are also available with the average price of a three-bed standing at $882.8k.

In October 2020, an anonymous buyer purchased a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, known as Stan, for $31.8 million, the most expensive fossil ever purchased at auction. For two years, the bones disappeared from the public eye, leaving paleontologists concerned about the potential loss to science—until now.

For National Geographic, reporter Michael Greshko has revealed the dinosaur will be housed in a new natural history museum in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

National Geographic's Greshko, who broke the story on Stan's new home, found Stan using United States' shipping and trade records. He identified a shipment worth $31,847,500—Stan's exact sale price—that was exported from New York to the UAE in May 2021. On March 23, 2022, Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism confirmed Stan's new home would be in the new Natural History Museum of Abu Dhabi, which is currently under construction and slated to open in 2025, per National Geographic.

Ibiza’s legendary Café del Mar has announced it will open an international outlet in Abu Dhabi, The ‘Home of Chill’ has been in Ibiza for over 40 years, famed for its unrivalled sunset views and intertwining relationship with laidback music. The original beach club even has its own ‘Chill House’ music label and line of merchandise.

The Abu Dhabi branch looks to capture this same spirit. Nestled along the Yas Bay Waterfront, the venue will brush shoulders with the likes of Buddha-Bar and Lock, Stock & Barrel. The café will be found at Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island.

The venue will be managed by Capital Motion, the same management firm behind the likes of Siddharta Lounge and Caramel.

Yas Marina has been awarded the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation by The Yacht Harbour Association, which is the industry’s oldest marina association. The Yas Marina, under Miral, is the first marina in the UAE and GCC to receive the title, with The Yacht Harbour Association having only awarded five other marinas globally.

No really new news in this article but hopeful that there is a good reason to start putting out PR pieces...

It has a director, the Australian archaeologist Peter Magee, appointed without any fanfare in July 2019. Since early this year, it has had a director of collections and curatorial management, Eleni Vassilika, the former director of the Museo Egizio in Turin, and a team of Emirati museum professionals. Building work is now above ground and Magee says that planning for the contents of its ground floor and five “pods” inside the towers is well advanced.
Speaking to The Art Newspaper, Magee says that the ground floor of the museum will be all about the personal and political story of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004), who united, and was the venerated first president of, the seven emirates that make up the UAE, which was born as a country in 1971.
On 12 March 2018, a sign that constructive policies were again to the fore came with the announcement by the de facto ruler of Abu Dhabi, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, of a $13.6bn stimulus package, 35% of which was to build up Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading cultural destination. In March 2019, Saif Ghobash, the undersecretary at the DCT, told The National newspaper that the ZNM and Guggenheim were still in progress and “all the other [Saadiyat Island] projects have been put into full gear”, aimed at the Russian, Chinese, Saudi, Indian and domestic markets.
